What we handle
- Polybutylene supply line failures at fittings
- Consequential water damage from polybutylene leaks
- Home-inspection disclosures involving polybutylene
Policy language is critical
Some Florida policies specifically exclude damage caused by polybutylene plumbing. Others treat polybutylene the same as any other plumbing. The exclusion, if present, will be in the policy form: usually in a specific endorsement.
Even with a polybutylene exclusion, the carrier may cover:
- Water damage to walls, floors, and contents (ensuing loss)
- Mold remediation (subject to sublimit)
- Dry-out and mitigation
The excluded portion is typically just the pipe-replacement cost itself.
How to document
- Poly-B material identification (visible piping, plumber's written identification)
- Specific leak point and timeline of discovery
- Consequential damage photography
- Plumber's written diagnosis and invoice
- Water-damage scope from a dry-out contractor
