Who uses our estimating service
- Policyholders: when a carrier's estimate is too low and a side-by-side comparison is needed
- Contractors: when a repair job needs a carrier-comparable estimate for submission
- Attorneys: when first-party insurance litigation requires quantitative scope/pricing evidence
- Independent adjusters: overflow support during catastrophe cycles
- Public adjusters: specialty-scope support (we handle large, complex, or multi-state matters)
What you get
- Scope documentation: photos, measurements, thermal imaging, drone capture as appropriate
- Full Xactimate estimate: line-item scope with Florida-current pricing for the loss zip code
- Sketch: to-scale floor plan with measurements
- Supporting documentation: material specifications, manufacturer citations, code-upgrade basis
- Review narrative: cover letter explaining scope decisions and any disputed items
On-site vs. remote estimating
- On-site inspection: best choice for major losses; captures full scope, hidden damage, and site conditions. Typical turnaround 7–14 days from inspection.
- Remote/desk estimate: built from client-provided photos, videos, sketches, and scope notes. Faster turnaround (3–7 days) but limited to documentable scope. Good for secondary reviews and pre-suit documentation.
Pricing accuracy
Our estimates use Florida Xactimate price lists: updated quarterly per CoreLogic's regional labor and material surveys. Every line item uses the loss-zip-code pricing, not a national default. For specialty materials, we cite manufacturer pricing directly.
Side-by-side comparisons
One of the most common uses: side-by-side review of the carrier's estimate against a properly-scoped Xactimate rebuild. We identify:
- Missing scope (entire rooms, full slopes, systems)
- Under-priced line items
- Missing code-upgrade provisions
- Depreciation applied aggressively
- Overhead & profit (10-and-10) omitted when it should apply
- Matching statute implications missed
Side-by-side reports are frequently the turning-point document in appraisal, mediation, and CRN filings.
Who prepares estimates
Every estimator at Ocean Point is a Florida-licensed public adjuster with Xactimate certification. We assign by specialty match so the adjuster preparing your estimate has direct experience with your claim type.
Cost structure
Estimating service is priced per project: flat fee for scope based on property size and complexity. When estimating is delivered as part of a larger public-adjusting representation, it's folded into the contingency fee.
