The 10-day free-look
Under Fla. Stat. 626.854(7), you have 10 business days after executing a public adjuster contract to rescind it without penalty.
After the free-look
You can still terminate, but the contract may entitle the adjuster to fees on any recovery their work produced. Read the termination clause.
Written notice
Always terminate in writing. Keep a delivery receipt. Hand-delivery with signed acknowledgment, certified mail, or email with read-receipt all work.
If the PA is unlicensed
If the person representing you does not hold a valid Florida 3-20 license, the contract is void and no fee is owed. Verify license at myfloridacfo.com.
