What an AOB does (and why you'd regret it)
- Transfers your claim rights to the contractor
- You lose control of the claim
- Contractor-carrier litigation can stall repairs
- Fee-shifting rules changed post-2022: contractor's litigation leverage is reduced
Statutory requirements
Fla. Stat. 627.7152 imposes strict form requirements on any AOB. A non-compliant AOB is voidable.

What to do instead
- Direct pay or Direction to Pay (not an assignment)
- Traditional contractor-client contract with you in control
- Retain a PA to handle the claim
